Meadowood Farms sheep-milk cheeses

Our cheeses are produced at Old Chatham Creamery by cheesemaker Brian Schlatter and his team.  Before becoming Head Cheesemaker at OCC, Brian was a cheesemaker at Meadowood Farms some years ago, and helped develop the recipes for our Ledyard and Strawbridge cheeses.

Both Meadowood Farms Ledyard and Meadowood Farms Strawbridge have won awards multiple times at the annual American Cheese Society competition.  This is no small feat, as there are about 1,800 cheese entries every year at the ACS competition.

Because the Meadowood Farms’ dairy flock produces milk seasonally starting in late winter, and continuing through the fall, our cheeses are only seasonally available.  You’ll generally be able to get Ledyard and Strawbridge beginning in early spring, Rippleton in late summer, with all three usually available for purchase through the Christmas Holiday Season.

We tend to only carry a small amount of our Meadowood cheeses on the farm at any one time.  We receive cheese deliveries from Old Chatham Creamery every Monday.  If you want to plan on having a certain amount of our cheeses on hand, please email us at info@meadowoodfarms.com by Saturday evening, and we will be sure to get your cheese to the farm on the following Monday.

To order our cheeses for pick-up at the farm, or pick-up at the Cazenovia Farmers’ Market, go to our On-line Farm Store.

Ledyard is a soft-ripened sheep's milk cheese in the style of Robiola. Wrapped in grape leaves soaked in a locally-made wheat beer. Lactic and funky.  Blue-ribbon winner at American Cheese Society competition in 2016 and 2019!!

Strawbridge is a lactic, bloomy-rind sheep's milk cheese. Similar to a triple crème, it is rich, buttery, and herbal. Enjoy with a glass of something bubbly!
